Video Transcript:
This section provides some basics on decision making by describing how we efficiently define, set and reach goals.
First, the exploration and assessment of ourselves and our surroundings bring us inspiration for goals and actions, which are then assessed and compared based on their expected impact and effort.
Usually harder to achieve and potentially demotivating, complex outcome goals such as “remaining healthy” can be strategically split into smaller and simpler achievable goals such as “eating healthy” or “brush your teeth”.
After inspiration and assessment of possible goals and potential associated strategies, a decision needs to be made regarding what to do.
While simple decisions are efficiently handled by internal logic and feelings, complex decisions benefit from more elaborate comparisons, sometimes involving others to provide a more objective approach.
Very influential in our decision making, your mindset may be crucial for your ability to set and reach for goals.
For instance, it can really be motivating to realize that nothing can be changed without the drive of single individuals, and that trying and failing is often required to eventually succeed!
In the next part, as further support, we will dive into how one can overcome the difficulty in improving our habits, which is often one of the most difficult yet achievable goals we can do both at the individual or collective level.
